Community has rebuilt after a third of the town was levelled
For residents of Slave Lake, Alta., the mass evacuation of Fort McMurray reminds them of the wildfire that devastated their community in 2011.
Five years ago this weekend, 100 km/h winds pushed a wildfire into the town. Residents were forced to leave and the fire ended up levelling a third of the town.
Damages amounted to $700 million.
Slave Lake has rebuilt but still bears some of the marks of the destruction that occurred.
