Turner Valley RCMP and investigators with the Mounties' major crimes unit are investigating human remains found in a forested area near Eden Valley.
It's unclear whether the remains are of a man or woman. They were found around 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning, and an autopsy was completed Wednesday.
Police said the medical examiner is still working with an anthropologist to determine the gender of the deceased and the person's approximate time of death.
RCMP said further updates will be made public as more information becomes available.
Eden Valley is a First Nations reserve located about 100 kilometres southwest of Calgary.
