Police received call at 8:15 p.m. Friday
A four-year-old girl is dead after being struck by a black Ford F150 truck Friday evening in the northwest Calgary community of Bowness.
Police say they were called to the intersection of 79th Street and 47th Avenue N.W. at about 8:15 p.m.
A witness, who was one block away returning from a walk, heard the collision.
"All I heard was screeching and screams," Joy Morgan tells CBC News.
She said there was a man holding the child in his lap.
"He was really shocked, he was really tore apart, upset," she said.
"He went over and wanted to talk to the truck driver but the police wouldn't let him. He was really upset."
Paramedics declared the girl deceased at the scene.
"Tragic and nothing less," said an EMS spokesperson.
"Extremely tragic."
Police had originally reported the child was four years old, then revised that to three years old, then later corrected her age again to four years old.
