Due to bone-dry conditions and hot weather, a regional fire ban is in effect for the Town of La Ronge and area.
On Tuesday, La Ronge Regional Fire Services issued a complete fire ban for La Ronge, Lac La Ronge First Nation and the Village of Air Ronge, effective immediately.
La Ronge Mayor Thomas Sierzycki said he favoured a fire ban after a blaze sparked up in a heavily wooded area near a developing subdivision in La Ronge.
The fire ban means all open fires are prohibited and only propane, natural gas and briquette barbecues are allowed during the fire ban.
The regional fire chief said the ban will remain in effect until further notice.
