When most cities and towns across the country need money from the federal government, they usually spend hours on grant applications or call up their MPs to get some much needed face time.
As it turns out, Lloydminster, Sask. isn't most cities.
Last week, city workers made a music video dedicated to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, set to the music of Adele's smash hit "Hello" asking for help amid the oil downturn.
"The idea just sparked one evening," said deputy city manager Kirk Morrison."We were asking ourselves, 'How do we tell our story in a unique way?' because it's sometimes difficult."

Located on the border between Alberta and Saskatchewan, Lloydminster is heavily dependent on the oil industry. With the oil patch slowing down, and infrastructure projects mounting, Morrison said the city needs help right now.
"Lloydminster's in a unique position," he said. "It's been a challenge to have Alberta and Saskatchewan come together on these grant funds that are administered through the federal government, so we decided to go the route of speaking directly to the federal government."
After listening to the video, it becomes clear that Morrison isn't a natural born singer. While he admits singing lessons might have been helpful, he's fairly happy with the end result.
"We were under some tight timelines, so we decided to do our best with this."
Ultimately, the video's creators are hoping Trudeau sees the video.
"It would be pretty cool if the video reached the prime minister's office," he said. "Even though Lloydminster's a small community, population-wise, we're a pretty big player in the heavy oil industry. I think the video contains some projects of national importance."
