Watts says his impartiality has been called into question
The committee that sets the rules for the Prince Edward Island legislature will meet Friday to discuss the conduct of Speaker Buck Watts.
Last week the speaker made the unprecedented step of calling for a review not just of his conduct, but also of what he characterized as "intimidation" by the official opposition.
Watts says his impartiality has been called into question.
The opposition has written a letter to the Standing Committee on Rules, Regulations, Private Bills and Privileges asking for a regulation that would prevent the speaker from attending partisan events.
Such a rule does not exist now, something else the committee will also consider on Friday.
The opposition has asked that the meeting be open to the public and early indications are that will be the case, although a motion could still be made to have the meeting held in camera.
