Mario Corrigal has lived in northern Saskatchewan his whole life and has seen thousands of bears during his lifetime.
But, never like this.
"I've seen a bunch of cubs ... but nothing this small. It's like a baby kitten," he said.
Corrigal lives near Canoe Lake, Sask., which is approximately 340 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert. He was recently travelling home on a grid road when he noticed something on the side of the road.
"I happened to come across this sow, I didn't even noticed the cubs, I just pulled over slowly to get by her because she was near the ditch and out of nowhere these three little guys came out."
Corrigal works as a firefighter for the provincial government and said he sees a lot of wildlife during his days at work.
However, he said it is rare to see a mother bear with three cubs.
"I've never seen bears so small before," he said.
Corrigal said during this time of year, hungry bears and their children eat grass until fish and berries become more plentiful. He said bears are drawn to the side of the road because of trash or food left behind by humans.
"Some people feed them, that's the problem," he said.
"It's their backyard we're living in, so, I give them the right of way."
Corrigal said he has received an outpouring of positive feedback since sharing the video to a Saskatchewan Scenery's Facebook page.
