A pronghorn antelope was repeatedly hit with a dirt bike and killed on the weekend, RCMP say — and now charges have been laid.
It happened on Friday south of Paynton, Sask., according to the Maidstone RCMP detachment.
Officers were dispatched after getting a call of a person on a green dirt bike who had chased down the antelope, hit it with the vehicle several times and then killed it.
RCMP say they determined the carcass was taken to nearby Little Pine First Nation.
A male from the reserve was arrested for charges under the Criminal Code.
Further charges under the Wildlife Act are pending, the RCMP said.
