A 31-year-old Nova Scotia man accused of killing his mother and two grandparents appeared briefly in Nova Scotia Supreme Court on Thursday morning via video link.
Codey Hennigar's case will be heard in December. The first issue to be dealt with is whether he can be held criminally responsible.
Hennigar was arrested in January 2015, shortly after police discovered the bodies of 54-year-old Mildred Ann Ward and her parents, Clifford and Ida Ward. They were found in the burned-out remains of the Wards's home in Wyses Corner.
Hennigar was arrested after his car rammed two RCMP vehicles. He's facing three counts of second-degree murder.
Usually, murder trials are held by a judge and jury, but Hennigar re-elected to be tried by a judge alone.
While awaiting trial, Hennigar is being held at the East Coast Forensic Hospital.
