Think back to Sonny Crockett's Miami Vice wardrobe or to your Easter decorations, pastels and neutral tones are the hottest colours for this year according to Canadian fashion icon Simon Chang.
Chang appeared on Island Morning on Wednesday to talk about his upcoming trip to P.E.I. to find inspiration for his Beauti-Tone paint line. Those colours will be available next year.
So how about this year's hottest colour trends?
"There are pastels that are happening very strong," said Chang. "Like soft pinks, soft blues, soft greens and also beautiful butter colour, yellow."
That applies to both interior and exterior colours.
The Montreal-based designer said there are other colours you'll also see a lot of this year.
"We also have some stronger colours that are very much influenced by the sea."
Chang added that neutral colours are also hot, but that doesn't mean you won't find yourself with a handful of colour chips at the paint store.
"There are so many tones of white, and beige, creams. It has to work well with other colours."
In addition to going lobster fishing, Chang will see the Island country side to help find the colours that he'll introduce to his paint line. He said the names he picks for the colours will also be associated with the province.
Simon Chang has scheduled visits at a number of Home Hardware stores during next week's visit.
