Dechamp considered unlawfully at large when he missed curfew on April 19
Halifax Regional Police are looking for Tyrell Peter Dechamp, 26, who is considered armed and dangerous.
Police say Dechamp failed to return to his Halifax address on April 19 and broke his curfew. He's now considered unlawfully at large, and a Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued.
Dangerous history
Dechamp has a history of violent offences.
In 2012, Dechamp was convicted of aggravated assault. The court heard he punched a woman in the head, knocking her to the ground and causing a severe head injury.
He was sentenced to three years in prison.
Violent week
The search for the 26-year-old man comes the week after three young men were shot to death in Halifax on separate days. Police won't say if there is any link between the investigations.
Const. Dianne Woodworth says police cannot comment on any persons of interest or suspects in ongoing investigations. There have been no arrests made in the three cases.
"Officers are actively investigating the recent incidents, pursuing all investigative avenues and continuing to reach out to community to address and prevent future acts of violence," she wrote in a news release.
Don't approach
Dechamp is described as a black man with a light complexion, five feet nine inches tall, and 210 pounds with a stocky build, brown eyes and short black hair.
Police are advising people stay away from Dechamp if they see him and to call 911. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477.
