Police in Calgary have have arrested a WestJet employee they say fraudulently issued more than $250,000 in company travel credits.
The 43-year-old man was charged on Tuesday with fraud and theft over $5,000, following a joint investigation involving the the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) and WestJet corporate security.
Police allege the man issued the credits, which were then bought and sold by a third party, between 2012 and 2015.
No WestJet customers are believed to have been defrauded.
The investigation was referred to ALERT last July after WestJet conducted its own internal investigation into the matter.
