A man in Sylvan Lake is accused of assaulting a 10-month-old baby, RCMP say.
The investigation began last month after a complaint was received concerning a child with unexplained injuries who was taken to the hospital.
The baby is currently recovering from the injuries, police say.
A 47-year-old man was charged on April 19 with aggravated assault.
He was released on a cash bail and is set for a court appearance next month in Red Deer.
To protect the identity of the victim, the man's name is not being released.
The Sylvan Lake RCMP detachment was assisted by forensics and experts in Calgary and Edmonton as well as the Red Deer major crimes unit.
