Crews put out major fire in Silverado in southwest Calgary

Nobody injured as abandoned house burns to the ground

Flames could be seen shooting high in the air as firefighters battled a major blaze in the southwest Calgary community of Silverado this morning.
Crews were called at about 6 a.m., fire officials say.
The house, in a field east of James McKevitt Road and west of Sheriff King Street S.W., was abandoned and there were no injuries.
Firefighters were able to put out the fire by about 7 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
