A 64-year-old woman from Montague, P.E.I., was issued a ticket Tuesday morning for passing a school bus while its red lights were flashing.
RCMP said they received a complaint of a car passing a stopped school bus on Spring Street in Montague at 8:10 a.m.
A number of children were boarding the bus at the time of the incident, and the vehicle left the scene after passing the school bus, police said in a written release.
Statements provided by three witnesses helped police identify and locate the driver.
The minimum fine for passing a school bus while the red lights are flashing is $1,000, plus a $75 surcharge, along with eight demerit points on their driving record, police noted.
