According to the city, Calgary has the highest rate of return to owner for lost pets in North America
Renewing or obtaining a licence for your furry friends just got easier, thanks to the City of Calgary's new online animal services website launched Monday, National Pet Day.
The online portal offers owners the ability to manage their licences entirely online, with different payment methods and the ability to sign up for automatic renewals.
"A pet's licence is their ticket home if they ever become lost, and we want to make it as easy as possible to reunite the pet with their owner," said Ryan Jestin, director of Calgary Community Standards, in a release.
The new site allows owners to:
- purchase or renew a pet licence
- modify an existing pet licence
- pay by Interac
- order a replacement pet tag
- receive reminders about renewal dates by email
- sign up for automatic renewal payments
- update contact information
Pet licensing fees range from $17 to $260 and are used to shelter and feed lost dogs and cats, educate the public about responsible pet ownership, and reunite lost cats and dogs with their owners.
You can also obtain a licence by calling 311 or by visiting the Animal Services Centre.
