For Megan Harris, executive director of Island Nature Trust, planning projects for the next few years is going to be a lot easier.

Island Nature Trust works to protect wildlife habitat in P.E.I. and Thursday, the group announced a five–year partnership with the P.E.I Liquor Control Commission.
From April 1 until May 10, up to one dollar of each purchase of certain brands of beer, wine and spirits will be donated to Island Nature Trust, a fundraiser that will be repeated every spring for five years.
"We are always short of funds to do some of our basic, mandated work," said Harris. She said the funds raised through this partnership will be a big help.

Harris said she was told by the liquor control commission that it expects to raise close to $20,000 over the course of the six weeks.
Island Nature Trust oversees 37,000 acres of land and Harris said the money raised from this campaign will go directly toward restoration work.
The organization relies heavily on fundraising and also receives federal funding for some of its projects.
"[The funding is] usually late to come in every fiscal year, so this is always a lean time for us," said Harris.
Island Nature Trust applied for the project and made a successful presentation to the liquor control commission last summer.
