CBC journalists net 18 CAJ award nominations

'Canadian journalists still produce plenty of amazing, important and impactful journalism,' CAJ says
The Canadian Association of Journalists has released the list of finalists for its annual investigative journalism awards, and there are a number of CBC nominees among them.
The public broadcaster netted 18 nominations in a broad range of categories, alongside media colleagues at the Globe and Mail, the Huffington Post, CTV, Maclean's, Postmedia, BuzzFeed, the Toronto Star, Global, APTN, the Canadian Press, the Georgia Strait and others.
"Congratulations to all our finalists," the CAJ said in a statement. "Your work has been outstanding, inspiring and a reminder of how, despite the unending fiscal challenges facing our industry, Canadian journalists still produce plenty of amazing, important and impactful journalism."
CBC has secured nominations in the following categories:
Open media
- CBCNews.ca: Nahlah Ayed, Tracy Seeley and Richard Devey for Refugee crisis: Walking across a continent.
- CBC News: Harvey Cashore, Frederic Zalac, Dave Seglins and Alexandra Byers for KPMG: The Isle of Sham.

- The Fifth Estate and the Globe and Mail: Harvey Cashore, Terence McKenna, Joseph Loiero, Alexandra Byers, Zach Dubinsky, Chelsea Gomez, Nicole Reinert and Greg McArthur for The Mob and Michael DeGroote.

The CAJ award winners will be announced at a gala in Edmonton on May 28 and will receive $500 cash prizes for most categories.
