Northlands gave Oiler fans an opportunity to skate on the iconic ice surface at Rexall Place Monday night, 48 hours before the Oilers take to the ice for their final game ever at the arena.
The free skate was Northlands way of thanking the many fans who came to watch hockey games and other events at Rexall Place over the last 42 years, said president and CEO Tim Reid.
As the CBC's Emily Fitzpatrick found out, the hundreds of fans were thrilled to be on the same ice as their heroes once skated on.
