More crews were called in due to the sheer volume of smoke on scene
Calgary firefighters battled a two-alarm fire in a northeast community that extensively damaged two houses displacing 15 people, fire officials said in a release Friday.
Firefighters were called to Del Ray Road in Monterey Park at about 1:30 p.m.
The smoke was so heavy and visible, firefighters called in a second alarm on their way to the location.
One man had minor burns but was treated on scene by paramedics and released.
Three vehicles were also destroyed.
Access to the street was restricted while investigators worked to learn the cause.
