Condolences have been pouring in for Jean Lapierre from politicians across the country.
But Lapierre, a political pundit, broadcaster and former federal Liberal cabinet minister, is also being mourned by residents of his former riding of Outremont where he served as an MP until he left politics in 2007.
Lapierre made a point to check in with citizens to see how they felt about issues.
At an Outremont mall, barber Pierre Degryse said Lapierre would often come in to talk.
"I will always remember him, always, always," Degryse said.
"It's thanks to his frankness, his honestly. he was really an admirable person."
