Members of the Winnipeg Police Service bomb unit entered a building behind Portage Place today and removed what they described as an airsoft "grenade."
Police were called to a property on Webb Place at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday and evacuated part of the building. Members of the bomb unit arrived at 12:15 p.m. and located and removed the device, which they said can cause minor injuries.
Alice McKay, who lives in the building, said her landlord told her about what she believed was a fake grenade found lying on the floor of a ninth-storey hall.
Webb and Vaughan Street were closed but have since been reopened.
