Montreal Comiccon sets phasers to stun with Star Trek celebration

60K attendees expected for weekend of comics, gaming, pop culture and cosplay

Star Trek fans will get to see Montreal's own Captain Kirk reunite with Lieut. Uhura as part of Comiccon's ode to the beloved Sci-Fi series in its eighth edition from July 8 to 10 at the Palais des congrès.

The newly released lineup for this year's 'con includes Star Trek's William Shatner and Nichelle Nichols, Run DMC's Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air's Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton Banks), Star Trek: Voyager's Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway), Star Wars' Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) and Silver Age comic icon Neal Adams.
The three-day event includes celebrity Q&As, panels and workshops. Organizers expect their biggest year yet with 60,000 attendees.

Seasoned Comiccon-goer and owner of Crossover Comics George Salvador Mallari-Lee advises people to get their tickets early to save money and time and check timetables before heading to the event.
"A lot of cosplayers will be there mostly on Saturday, to be seen," Salvador Mallari-Lee said.
He said Sunday was the day for out-of-towners looking for a deal on collectibles.
