No injuries in Saturday morning fire on Bonnetplume Road
A fire at 22 Bonnetplume Road in Inuvik, N.W.T., destroyed a residential six-plex on Saturday.
A city official told CBC News that all of the residents were able to escape the fire unharmed.
Fire crews were called to the scene at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
No one at the fire department was available to comment on the fire, but at noon there were still four pumper trucks outside the Bonnetplume multiplex and heavy smoke was billowing from the building.
An excavator was tearing down the part of the six-plex closest to Dolphin Street, apparently to get out the source of the fire.
Grant Hood, the town's senior administrative officer, said the cause of the fire is not yet known.
