Adjust your driving and expect utility outages, public alert warns
Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning public alert for Prince Edward Island.
It was posted at about 3:30 p.m. AT, and will be in effect for at least the next eight hours in all three counties.
"As precipitation moves in after midnight temperatures will still be hovering near zero across P.E.I.," said CBC meteorologist Kalin Mitchell from the Halifax Weather Centre.
"That means that an initial icy mix of snow and freezing rain is likely for the province, slippery accumulations of a coating up to two centimtres should be watched for in the snow/freezing rain combination."
Temperatures will rise above freezing through Wednesday morning, turning the mix over to light rain and showers that will extend into the afternoon.
"Caution should be take early Wednesday morning as slippery spots may develop on the roads," Mitchell warned.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions, and public utility outages may occur, said the public alert.
Freezing rain and rainfall warnings have also been issued for parts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
