Jasmin Geljo is nominated for Best Actor at this year's Canadian Screen Awards. But the road there hasn't been without some major bumps — as he tells us in this edition of Storytellers, where artists share some of the most critical moments in their creative lives.
In the 1980s, Geljo was an easily recognizable face on Yugoslavian television. He played Mima, a character on the country's "most popular show ever made" at the time, Audicija.

But when he had to flee the country in the '90s and arrived in Canada, he wasn't prepared for how it would feel to be a newcomer. Geljo's new film The Waiting Room — which earned him his CSA nomination — has some striking parallels to his own story.
