A Royal Canadian Navy submarine, HMCS Windsor, is still docked at Norfolk, Va., following a battery cell leak on board last week, according to the Department of National Defence.
A crew of engineers and technicians from Halifax has arrived in Virginia to help, department spokesperson Capt. Cameron Hillier said in an email Friday afternoon.
The ship is then expected to return to Halifax.
HMCS Windsor has had problems before, with the federal government spending more than $226 million to repair, refit and maintain the submarine in recent years.
Hillier has said the navy considers this latest issue a "minor mechanical incident at sea."
