An 81-year-old woman was killed when she was struck by a pickup while crossing the street Thursday morning at Groat Road and 111th Avenue.
Police said the woman was crossing 111th Avenue at about 8:20 a.m. when she was hit by a pick-up truck turning left from Groat Road.
The woman was walking south on the east side of the intersection when the truck, turning east on 111th Avenue, struck her.
The woman died on the way to hospital, police said.
Alcohol or speed is not believed to be factors and no charges had been laid by mid afternoon Thursday.
Robert Eisenbart was waiting for the light to change when he saw what happened.

"A car turning left off of Groat onto 111th going eastbound, he had just passed the elderly lady and the truck followed," Eisenbart said. "It looked like he didn't see her and ran right over her with his truck."
The woman was in the crosswalk at the time, he said.
Eisenbart went to help the injured woman, who was already being tended to by an off-duty firefighter. The firefighter started CPR as the men waited for an ambulance to arrive, he said.
The traffic fatality is Edmonton's fourth of 2016.
