A Hamilton teen has been charged, police say, after assaulting a man with his breakfast of bacon and eggs.
It happened Monday morning at a restaurant on the corner of Kenilworth Avenue North and Barton Street East.
Police said in a release that witnesses reported the 19-year-old was sitting with a group of people at the restaurant when he became "agitated" with a man at his table.
He then picked up his breakfast in his hands and struck a 29-year old man in the face with his bacon and eggs.
The man became disoriented, police say, suffering an injury and was sent to the hospital.
Hamilton Constable Steve Welton said, in an email, that it was no accident.
"The weapon was in fact the food, and the intent was to cause injury or harm," Welton said. "It was not accidental in nature and officers investigated with evidence to support the charges."
Under Section 267 of the Canadian Criminal Code, a weapon in a case of assault is defined as "any thing used, designed to be used or intended for use in causing death or injury to any person, or for the purpose of threatening or intimidating any person."
The 19-year old was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and failure to comply with probation. He is set to appear in court to answer the charges.
