One person escaped injury following an early morning house fire Monday in Greenvale, P.E.I.
New Glasgow fire Chief Jason Peters said the homeowner had taken her dog outside at around midnight when she noticed flames coming from the kitchen and called for help.
"The house is a complete loss, unfortunately," said Peters. "It was too far gone when we got there ... We ended up doing an exterior attack and the building is still standing but the remains inside are completely burnt."
About 30 firefighters from the New Glasgow department responded. The North River Fire Department provided mutual aid.
The provincial fire marshal's office is investigating the cause.
Disaster volunteers with the Canadian Red Cross have helped the woman with emergency lodging, food, clothing and other basics.
