Brooks woman taken to Calgary hospital, but died from her injuries on Sunday
A 19-year-old Brooks woman is dead and a 26-year-old Brooks man is in custody following an alleged assault on Friday.
RCMP and EMS were called to a Brooks residence at 3:55 a.m. on Friday and found Tanya Campbell-Losier with severe injuries. She was taken to a Calgary hospital and died on Sunday.
Police charged Jesse Dyck with aggravated assault and said they are not seeking any other suspects in the case.
A Facebook page has appeared in Campbell-Losier's memory and her aunt has set up a GoFundMe page in order to help the family cover funeral and related costs. By Monday evening it had raised $14,140, far surpassing its target of $5,000.
The investigation into Campbell-Losier's death continues, and involves the Brooks RCMP, RCMP major crimes unit and forensic identification services unit.
Police are waiting on the results of an autopsy.
