15-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Whitehorse teen's 2014 death
A 15-year-old boy beat Whitehorse teen Brandy Vittrekwa to death after she rejected his romantic advances, according to an agreed statement of facts filed in court this week.
The boy, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in her death.
According to the agreed statement of facts, the two had been drinking at a party in December 2014, when the boy tried to kiss Vittrekwa. She wasn't interested and shrugged him off, court heard.
Later that night, the boy severely beat Vittrekwa while they walked home.
Her body was found the next day, on a walking trail in the McIntyre subdivision. An autopsy found she had suffered blunt force trauma to the head and neck.
Prosecutors have applied to have Vittrekwa's killer sentenced as an adult.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for May.
