Two canvas domes that will shelter construction crews as they build a bridge over King Street in Kitchener will be complete by the end of the week according to Grandlinq.
Media was invited to view the domes on Wednesday, before it was completely enclosed in canvas.

The domes are located over King Street East in Kitchener, near the intersection of King and Victoria. The largest one is about 125 feet (38 m) wide by 250 feet (77 m) long according to Grandlinq structures manager Daniel Millichamp.

Grandlinq is in the process of building a bridge under the domes, one that will allow freight and passenger trains to cross King Street without impeding traffic.
Millichamp says construction crews will be able to control the temperature inside the domes, which will allow freshly poured concrete to set properly. Without the domes, he says Grandlinq would have to wait until the spring to build the bridge.

Work on the bridge was supposed to happen this summer, but Millichamp says construction was delayed when the rail line changed ownership and contracts had to be renewed.

He says the domes will be completed by the end of the week; crews will begin pouring concrete in March, and then the domes will be disassembled in April.
