Winnipeggers took advantage of mild temperatures on Monday and flocked to downtown to skate and take in what Festival du Voyageur had to offer.
"It was a wonderful weekend," said Irina Bissonnette, director of marketing for Festival du Voyageur.
"Louis Riel Day was very busy, packed at the park."
Between 8,000 and 10,000 visitors explored Festival du Voyageur Voyageur Park in St. Boniface, said Bissonnette. Average attendance is between 6,000 and 8,000. The Forks was also very busy, she said.
The daytime high on Louis Riel Day in Winnipeg was a balmy -4C. The normal high for this time of year is -8C, according to Environment Canada.
