Quebec Environment Minister David Heurtel also ordered Reliance Power Equipment and Juste Investir to study neighbouring lands and take corrective measures if necessary.
The two companies must also conduct follow-up tests of the underground water at the land on Hymus Boulevard.
The ministry has given them 10 days to respond followed by 30 days to submit a decontamination plan.
PCBs detected in Pointe-Claire's drainage system were traced to leaking transformers and containers at the industrial site in 2014.
