Two people have been charged in the death of a woman following a break-in and assault in the North End of Winnipeg on the weekend.
Officers found Mavis Ducharme, 39, seriously injured in the 500 block of Stella Avenue early Saturday morning. She was taken in critical condition to hospital, where she died.
Investigators later learned a man and a woman had forced their way into Ducharme's home and attacked her and her common-law husband, police said.

Ducharme escaped to a nearby residence but was chased by the two people, who attacked her again, police said.
The incident was drug-related, a police spokesperson told CBC News.
A man and a woman, both 23, were arrested shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday.
The man has been charged with second-degree murder, while the woman is charged with manslaughter. Both are also charged with assault and breaking and entering.
Both are in custody.
A spokesperson with Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre said Ducharme was a long-term volunteer with the organization.
