d'bi young anitafrika(external link) has graced stages all around the world, was ranked in the monthly top 10 poets assembled by Badilisha Poetry X-Change(external link) (the largest African online poetry archive in the world), and changed the lives of young artists in Toronto. In fact, Exhibitionists' host, Amanda Parris says the poet-turned-singer is one of her mentors.
d'bi was with filmmaker Lucius Dechausay to show us how her mom, her culture, and the young artists she mentors are inspiring her to go in new directions.
