He rejoins offensive co-ordinator Paul LaPolice, who was the head coach in Winnipeg for 2½ seasons when Pierce was the Bombers' starting quarterback from 2010-12.
LaPolice, who was most recently a CFL game analyst for TSN, was named the team's offensive co-ordinator in December.
Pierce, who retired from an injury-plagued playing career at the end of the 2013 season, still lives in Winnipeg. He has spent the past two years as the running backs coach.
