42-year-old charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and luring a child
A high-risk offender convicted of sexual assault in Alberta and who is facing similar charges in Nova Scotia is being allowed to move again, this time to Halifax.
On Friday, Halifax Regional Police said 42-year-old Jamie Alan Goreham is now in the Halifax area. Police say he has been assessed as a high risk to reoffend.
Goreham is scheduled to appear in Nova Scotia Supreme Court on Feb. 5 on charges of sexual assault, sexual interference and luring that stem from 2012.
Little more than a week ago, Nova Scotia RCMP announced Goreham was returning from serving a sentence in Alberta and would live in the South Shore community of Barrington.
Nova Scotia's public prosecution office confirmed Friday Goreham's probation officer gave him permission to live at a specific Halifax address. He is seeking formal court approval to live in Halifax.
Goreham is currently on probation following his release from a Calgary jail for convictions that include sexual assaults.
He committed those offences after he was released from custody on a recognizance on the Nova Scotia charges in 2012, and subsequently moved to Grande Prairie, Alta.
Police have said his probation requires him to follow strict conditions, including restrictions on any activity that involves contact with children under the age of 16.
Goreham has a criminal record that dates back to 1991. It includes sexual offences involving girls under the age of 14.
