Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Villeray

Montreal police say collision was accident after man, 70, crossed between intersections

A 70-year-old man is dead after he was struck by a car Saturday afternoon.
Montreal police say the man was crossing Christophe-Colomb Avenue between Everett and Jean-Talon streets when he was hit by a car heading south around 1:30 p.m.
Police said the man was taken to hospital with life-threatening head injuries and was in critical condition. He died early Sunday morning.
The 31-year-old driver was not injured.
Police say the incident was an accident — the man was not crossing the street at a designated intersection.
