Woman struck and killed by cement truck in downtown Edmonton

Victim is city’s second traffic fatality of 2016, police say
A 49-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a cement truck in downtown Edmonton on Friday morning.
Police say the woman was crossing 107th Street, walking east on 103rd Avenue in a marked crosswalk, when she was hit by the truck making a southbound turn onto 107th Street.
Officers were called to the area at around 10:10 a.m.
"When we arrived on scene we learned the pedestrian was deceased," said Insp. Joel Whittaker.
The woman is the city's second traffic death of 2016, police say.
The truck driver was not injured. No charges have been laid.
Whittaker said police have spoken to witnesses and are looking for nearby surveillance recordings.
Alcohol and speed are not thought to have been factors in the collision.
Traffic in the area was blocked for several hours but is now flowing normally, police say.
