Windsor has found the right person to fill the newly created sports tourism co-ordinator position at city hall, according to Mayor Drew Dilkens, but he's not ready to release her name.

The mayor would only say the chosen candidate is well known in the sporting world and has ties to Windsor.

"She has experience in almost 23 different sports across Ontario and actually across Canada," Dilkens said after Monday night's council meeting. "We feel real comfortable that this is the right candidate and we're very, very excited to get her on board and have her hit the ground running."

He further hinted at the identify of the successful candidate by saying she has a wealth of knowledge of the city already.

"She has a lot of connections in the City of Windsor [and] has been here a lot of times in the course of her work," Dilkens said. She is someone who "knows what's going on here in the community and certainly knows what's going on in the sporting world in Ontario and across Canada."
