Residents along Delta's waterfront braced for a powerful king tide(external link) that hit this morning, but the calm weather appeared to work in their favour.
City staff and residents have been putting out sandbags and have set up large concrete blocks in anticipation, after king tides in December 2014 combined with a storm surge forced the municipality to declare a state of emergency.
And last year, part of the seawall on Boundary Bay collapsed and a home in Tsawwassen was evacuated when the wall in front it collapsed.
The tide reached a peak of 4.62 metres high at 8:14 a.m. on Wednesday near Boundary Bay and Tsawwassen, but no damage was reported.
Similar conditions are expected on Thursday and Friday morning as well.

"We're always concerned about them, they come every year, predictably and some years we're very lucky and some years we're not so lucky. It just depends on Mother Nature," said Delta Mayor Lois Jackson.
