Yukon's coroner is investigating the death of a Whitehorse man who fell down a flight of stairs on New Year's Day.
Stephen Coad, 25, fell at his Whitehorse home at around 9 p.m. on the holiday. Doctors later determined that he suffered a traumatic head injury in the fall.
Coroner Kirsten Macdonald said Coad went to bed shortly after the incident. She said he was checked on several times through the night, but couldn't be roused in the morning.
He was then taken to Whitehorse General Hospital, where doctors confirmed a head injury.
Coad's family has started an online campaign using crowdfunding platform GoFundMe, in hopes of raising $7,000 to cover the funeral and other costs.
His body was flown to Vancouver, where doctors were to remove his organs for donation.
