'Really excited that the plant will be up and running,' says P.E.I. Fisheries Minister
The former Mariner Seafoods processing plant in Brudenell, which closed nearly three years ago, is once again getting a new lease on life.
The facility has been purchased by North Lake Fisheries 2013 Ltd., the same Los Angeles-based company that bought a fish plant in North Lake in 2013, said the company's lawyer David Prince from his office in California.
The plant will process lobster starting with the spring fishery in P.E.I. in May.
"What I'm most pleased about is I think what it says about our fishermen and our fisheries product here on PEI," said the Island's Fisheries Minister Alan McIsaac.
"I think we have a world-renowned product in our lobsters," he said. "And I think it speaks well for what we have on the Island for fishermen and for the industry as a whole. Really excited that the plant will be up and running."

Prince said the company's goal is to maximize the plant's capacity, so employment opportunities will be considerable, although he wouldn't say exactly how many jobs they will offer.
The plant is now being renovated to accommodate processing.
