Clear streets between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. unless you have an on-street parking permit
The City of Ottawa has issued its first winter overnight parking ban of the season to clear up the heavy dump of snow that started just after midnight Tuesday.
On-street parking permit holders are exempt but others could be ticketed, towed and fined between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m.
For the first time this year, residents have free access to six city-owned garages during overnight bans. Garages have different times when the free period begins.
Overnight parking bans are issued when seven or more centimetres of snow falls, so that plows can clear the streets. By 3 p.m. Tuesday, more than 25 centimetres of snow had fallen in some parts of Ottawa.
