Eight Ottawa locations are among 58 grocery stores now authorized to sell beer in Ontario, Premier Kathleen Wynne announced this morning in Toronto.
Eventually, 450 stores across the province will be able to sell six-packs of beer — provided the alcohol content is less than 7.1 per cent by volume.
The following Ottawa locations are part of this first round:
  • Farm Boy, 2030 Tenth Line in Orleans.
  • Sobeys, 193 Metcalfe Street.
  • Loblaws, 1980 Baseline Road.
  • Metro, 3201 Strandherd Drive in Nepean.
  • Real Canadian Superstore, 760 Eagleson Road.
  • Sobeys, 700 Terry Fox Drive in Kanata.
  • Sobeys, 840 March Road in Kanata.
  • Independent, 1251 Main Street, Stittsville.
By May 2017, the Ontario government said it plans to have 150 stores stocked with beer, with the next bidding process for stores taking place sometime next year.
Beer sold in grocery stores will cost the same as beer sold at the LCBO and the Beer Store.
