Antigonish's Tall and Small Cafe uses Facebook to search for thief

'Significant' amount of money stolen while owners were away
The owners of a popular café in downtown Antigonish, N.S., are turning to social media to help solve a crime.
Early on the morning of Dec. 2, someone broke into the Tall and Small Cafe on Main Street and stole what the owner calls a "significant" amount of money from the till.
"My husband and I co-own the business and we were away for the weekend," Meghan Peters told CBC News. "We didn't have our usual things in place, so we had money left in the till, unfortunately, for the night."
The café had a good security camera system. Peters's husband spent days combing through the footage from that weekend until he found images of two women in the café around 2:30 a.m. that Saturday.
Peters said they decided to post the footage on the café's Facebook page.
"It's a small town and people are always willing to help around here, so I figured if somebody knew this person then they would come forward and help us out," she said. "I was hoping, anyway."
The video has been viewed more than 40,000 times so far, a number much greater than the population of Antigonish itself.
"It just kind of renews your faith in humanity and makes you feel better about where you're living," Peters said.
RCMP say they are aware of the social media posts and are attempting to identify the two women visible in the video.
Peters says business at the café has picked up since the Facebook post and people have even dropped off money.
She said losing this amount of money will make Christmas a little leaner. But she says the Tall and Small Cafe will survive.
