A Calgary man and his bankrupt renovation companies are facing 180 regulatory charges following a year-long investigation, Service Alberta said in a release Friday.
The Remodelers Ltd. and The Remodelers Special Projects Ltd went bankrupt(external link) October 2014, prompting 27 complaints to Service Alberta the following month.
The consumer protection agency said 22 of those complaints led to charges stemming from about $5 million in financial losses.
If found guilty, the agency says the owner could face two years in jail or a significant financial penalty.
