The Manitoba hockey community is gathering as much support as possible for 20-year-old Braden Pettinger.
Pettinger is paralyzed from the chest down following a fall he took in the last three minutes of his first game with the Portage La Prairie Terriers on Nov. 12.
The Manitoba Junior Hockey League set up a Go Fund Me page to cover the cost of Pettinger's current and future treatment, and as of Saturday afternoon, it had raised more than $107,000.
On Sunday, The Winkler Royals of the South-Eastern Manitoba Hockey League will be hosting the Altona Maroons, and donating all gate revenue and 50/50 revenue to Pettinger.
"We are encouraging all hockey fans to attend this event as it is a great and easy way … to support Braden and his family," said Brent Schaak, general manager of the Royals.
The game starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Winkler Arena.
